Sunday Poker League - Columbus Ohio

SPL Official Rules

While we will make every effort to address all of the rules of the league below, it is important to know that occasionally something will come up that is not addressed here. We will make every effort to address these situations as fairly as possible. We will then update this section if we find the need appropriate.

Rules last updated 2/28/2010:

  1. Tournaments will be held on Sundays for 10 weeks. See the Season Schedule for exact dates.
  2. There will be one tournament each week limited to 20 players.
  3. Seating will be random. If there are more than 10 players, there will be one tournament that will start with 2 tables and play down to one winner. The tables will be divided equally up to the limit of 2 full tables, and the tables will be combined when 9 players remain.
  4. Seating will be random and posted on the Seating Chart by Saturday each week.
  5. There will be a limit of 20 players each week, you must RSVP by Thursday of the week to claim one of the 20 seats.  An e-mail invite will be sent each Monday.
    • There will be a priority seating list, which will consist of the 20 players with highest priority, if you no call/no show or do not give satisfactory notice (by Thursday), you will be moved to the bottom of the list.
    • In an attempt to make sure we finish in a reasonable timeframe, we will start the tournaments by noon each week.
      • If you have contacted us and informed us you are on your way, we will post your chips to the game when it starts. All of your hands will be folded before the flop and any blinds will be lost to the pot.
      • If you have not arrived or contacted us by 11:45 a.m., then you will not play that week, no exceptions. You will also be moved to the bottom of the priority list.
  6. Entry fee will be $20 for each preliminary tournament. ($15 will go to that day’s tournament, while $5 will be put in a pot for the championship.) ** There are no re-buys in any tournament.
  7. Payouts each week will depend on the number of entries. See the Payout Chart.
  8. Points will be awarded for playing (1 pt), a knockout (1 pt) and based upon finish. See the full SPL Point Chart.
  9. Preliminary tournaments have 20 minute blinds, with a $10,000 starting chip stack. See the full SPL Blind Chart.
  10. After 10 weeks of play, there will be a championship with a $30 buy-in. You must have played in at least 4 preliminary tournaments in order to play in the championship.  There will be a total of $1,000,000 chips in play for the championship match.
  11. The starting stacks for the championship will be determined by the amount of points that each person that qualified has at the end of the regular season.
    • The % of points a person has, is the % of chips that person will start with in the championship.
    • Only points from those who qualify will be figured into this.
