The Season 7 SPL Championship took place on Sunday, June 12th, 2011 and boasted a record prize pool of $1600. The tournament was not a short one, as it lasted nearly 9 hours, it came down to two of the four players who played every week, Phillip Hadley and Heath Tigar, shortly in to heads up play, they agreed to a revised payout, with each player receiving $600, and then completing heads up play for an additional $200.
In the end, Phillip, who held the chip lead for the entire final table was able to outlast Heath, and claim his first SPL championship. Phillip has been a member since season 1, so the championship was long coming for him. Rounding out those who cashed was the consistient, John McIntosh, who takes home $200 for his efforts.
